(Gen. 22:1–14; Heb. 11:17–20); and Jacob discovered the folly of living by his wits when he should have been trusting the promises of God (cf. Gen. 27 with 25:23). It was by his identification with these three that the God who called Moses wanted to be known. They were such complex characters that much more could be said of each of them, but enough has been said to suggest the relevance of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob to Moses and his needs.
